Some Industrial Designers recently asked me how they can set up a blog and portfolio site and update it easily. I said Ok it’s really easy and really cheap actually. You don’t have to be a web designer to set up a decent looking site. If you are not trying to apply for a web designer job then don’t try to learn CSS and dreamweaver in depth. Try to focus on product design and get a decent (not over the top) looking site going.

I learned this the hard way by trying to build html and CSS sites in dreamweaver in the past and just had a hard time updating the site and adding content, etc… I stumbled upon WordPress and never looked back. If you have an idea for a domain name, just go to bluehost.com and hit the “sign up now” link on the front page and enter in your credit card info. Tada!You know have that domain name for $11.95 a month for all eternity if you want it.

If you go through all that trouble (which took less than 3 min). You can now install wordpress to you site and let it be your updating and content management system. Believe me this IS the way to go.

These two videos show you how to get wordpress up and running and then change the way it looks. After that the possibilities are endless with wordpress. By the way , this site is done exactly this way.
