E-ink is technology is a display technology that is making it’s way into more and more consumer products. Sony has a book reader, Motorola has a mobile phone, and there is even a a writing/sketch table that has the technology. Currently it is limited to black and white, and gray and has a can stay lit up when there is no power to the display. It is not back lit like an LCD and therefore does not burn much energy and doesn’t hurt the eyes.  I’d say when the color version comes out, it bye bye to LCD on may consumer products.

The flash drive shown below uses the display to show how much of the capacity is used on the driver. Once the drive is pulled form the computer the bars stay lit up because the display requires no power to stay on, it just needs power to change.

I don’t think haven’t seen a floor coverings selection so interesting before. Especially in rugs!!  Usually I hate carpet, unless it’s my shag suede. These are kinda edgy though and hopefully will find a place in your modern home. Some of my favorites from the collection are below. God, I hope Ikea rips some designs off of them!!!

BsGlobal Peace Containers is an organiztion which converts used shipping containers into emergency, transitional or even permanent housing.It really makes sense when you think about. They need to be disposed of when they are at the end of their life, they are pretty sturdy, and they are watertight. Perfect!

Smeg’s 50′s style frig is apparently coming to the US, according to Cool hunting. You can’t tell by the picture, but these babies are less than five feet tall and only 23in wide.

Well, if you are reading this now. I got you. There is no such thing as
affordable Mid Century chairs. But there are a set of miniatures that
are affordable. My girlfriend actually got me a set of these and they
get the oooo’s and aaahhh’s when anybody comes over.
Yes they are plastic and they are small but they are as close to own  them as you are gonna get.

What a simple little design piece and more useful than I can imagine. First of all the form which they created works well to hold the things items while also using lightweight materials to provide the structure.

Oh, yeah the cords now would be well out of my dogs reach.
