Sketches of the day – Digital pointing and selecting devices
Building off of my previous post about combining the Wacom pen and mouse into one device. How can you combine the digital pen and mouse into one cohesive and well thought out device. For many design tasks I prefer to work directly on screen using the tablet pen. However when switching to web browsing or email related tasks it is obviously much easier to move to the traditional mouse.
I think the answer might lie around some sort of secondary support that helps the user glide across the work surface when in mouse mode.
Some sketch exploration from tonight…

Great blog and work!—-I also have a wacom tablet and find myself switching back and forth between pen and mouse—pretty annoying—like the direction you’re taking, however, seems to be a bit bulky and might get heavy after a while—What if you had a glove and a pen. The breathable glove can have a nib on the tip of the middle finger. The glove can also prevent screen smudging and even provide sliding–smoother strokes when sketching. Usually when sketching, the middle finger is folded so that its tip is away from the screen, therefore, the middle finger tip nib wouldn’t have contact with the tablet surface (or screen, could also be applied to Cintiq). You could quickly change from “sketching mode” to “browsing mode” ( using finger tip) while still holding the pen—hope that made sense—lol—and helps in some way–once again awesome work:)
thanks
